The Matilija poppies are in bloom, their crinkled linen-like petals and sunny yellow centers annunciate that summer is here. In honor of my favorite season of the year, the Summer Whites series is coming to Bijouxs, little jewel recipes that reflect the brightness of summer.

I admit it, I am currently being lazy. Equipped with only two switches, either “on” or “off” sometimes it is necessary to flip the switch to “off ” and give the machine a chance to rest. But even in my lazy mode, food is still a priority and therefore cooking must ensue, which is when a recipe that I call Lazy Brownies comes to mind, a simple little jewel – delicious not daunting.
Quiche, the darling of the 70’s has been making a comeback and it some ways, it never really left. This all-purpose savory tart is flexible, embracing whatever you have on hand in the kitchen, freezes well and likes to travel.
