It’s Spring Break time for kids of all ages, and that includes me. But I thought I would share another image from my Family & Friends Cookbook, No. 10 – Baked Ziti with Sausage – the secret is in the spices.
During Spring I typically cook up a big pot of sauce for Baked Ziti with Sausage, with lots of hearty meat sauce left over to freeze, for when it’s just too hot to even think about a long-cooked sauce. This unique family favorite just had to be included in my first cookbook.
It’s all about the unique combination of spices in this Baked Ziti with Sausage. The recipe was inspired by a friend’s sauce, a recipe that I have tinkered with many times over the years. One of the key spice blends used in the sauce is no longer available, however I provide a link in the cookbook to mix up this vital blend yourself. There is also a big flavor punch added via a spice that is not usually a part of a traditional meat sauce. All together, the spices add up to a flavor-packed sauce that has always been a hit in the Bijouxs’ Kitchen, especially with kids, of all ages.
