Does the world really need another kale salad? Probably not, but it can’t hurt! Kale Salad with Golden Raisins, Pine Nuts, Tahini & Sumac, inspired from the California treasure Gjelina Restaurant–the simple little jewels.
“Beautiful food by design” is a Bijouxs tag line given to me by one of the great editors I worked with at Pasadena Magazine and one I really do live by. First I am a designer, second a cook; so everything is visual and of course must be delicious!
As pretty things go, I strive to keep all things real here at Bijouxs. No fancy props or food styling tricks, the food I photograph is really as it is served and as I prepare it. I know you want to see what the recipe will look like when you make it at home. Bijouxs serves you the home cook.
So, what the heck, here is another kale salad. What sets this one apart for me is the sweet & savory play (kale, pine nuts, raisins) with the creamy citrus tahini dressing, very nice. In speaking of beautiful food, I admire the Gjelina Cookbook for elevating California cuisine to a really lovely level, a book to add to your collection. Inspired, this recipe pulls ingredients from the book–the flavors I love to enjoy at home.
Still embracing SIMPLE, you will notice how easy the recipe is and such a lovely little jewel to enjoy. Yes, another kale salad from Bijouxs Little Jewels from the Kitchen.
As always, enjoy. B
The world can always use another kale salad, especially one as gorgeous as this! Those golden raisins practically GLOW 🙂
Hi Sue! Great to hear from you. Back in CA, my teeny-tiny studio has the most remarkable light, glowing golden raisins. Thank you!
I admire the Gjelina Cookbook for all the same reasons and this salad is a beautiful reinterpretation of that. GREG
Thank you Greg! Hope to make a pilgrimage to the restaurant soon. Best~Bijouxs
