Broccoli Rabe Soup

Standing alone at midnight on a dark, cold train platform somewhere in the Alps, the train bound for Florence pulled in slowly and stopped, with only one door opening near the front car. Scrambling with my luggage in tow to reach the only open door, I was met by a porter who informed me that due to a train strike I would not be boarding my sleeping car as assigned, however a few hundred lire later I was onboard, the sole passenger on a ghost train bound for Florence.

Southern Biscuits

Close to home. The first thing you notice walking up the familiar drive is that the apple tree is beginning to lose its leaves, a dog runs up to greet you and as you make the climb up the stairs to the front porch the sound of voices drifts out of the open kitchen door, you enter, the screen door squeaks as it lazily closes behind you, then the smell of freshly baked biscuits hits your senses, Southern biscuits, a Bijouxs that brings you close to home.
